Ava Liberace Presentation & Reception
Members and guests of NSAL-DC met on August 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Colonnade Condominiums Party Room in NW Washington, DC. We came to hear this year’s Winston Art Scholarship DC Chapter winner and first place winner at the National Winston Art Competition in Illinois.
2024 Celebration Reception
NSAL-DC hosted its annual Spring celebration at the City Tavern Club in Georgetown, Washington, DC on June 19, 2024. Chapter members and guests were welcomed by Sue Hamilton, NSAL-DC Secretary followed by a State of the Chapter report from Ron Ivey, President.
2024 Awards for Excellence in the Arts (AEA) Ceremony
The Washington, DC Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters held its 2024 Awards for Excellence in the Arts (AEA) ceremony May 29, 2024, at the National Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC. Forty six high school juniors from schools in the Washington Metropolitan Area were honored for excellence in NSAL’s six arts categories.
2024 National Society of Arts and Letters National Meeting
The National Society of Arts and Letters Annual Meeting was held May 16-18, 2024 in Champaign, Illinois. Our DC chapter had two winners at National: Joseph Parrish won 2nd place in the Dorothy Lincoln Smith Classical Voice Competition; Ava Liberace won 1st place in the National Winston Art Competition.

The Washington, DC Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters held its 2024 Virtual Awards Competitions for the Shirley Rabb Winston Classical Voice Scholarship.
2023 Celebration Reception
NSAL-DC hosted a celebration reception at the City Tavern Club in Georgetown, Washington, DC on June 14, 2023. Chapter members and guests were treated to the chapter’s 2023 musical and fine arts winners. Fine arts winners were introduced to the audience while their winning works scrolled by on a screen. A Winston Classical Voice winner, Chase Cote, performed for the audience as well as Drama winner Corbin Ford. v

NSAL-DC Membership Activities July 2022 thru June 2023
While NSAL DC’s membership year runs from July to June, membership activities are typically scheduled between September and June. Business meetings are held in conjunction several times a year.
Our area affords a limitless offering of opportunities for interesting and informative programs with a focus on arts, culture and history. In addition to this year’s membership activities, past years have included tours of the Natural History Museum Rare Books Collection, the Library of Congress’ Jefferson Building, and the private estate of Bunny Mellon and the National Sporting Museum in nearby Loudoun County.

NSAL DC hosted a Celebration Reception at the City Tavern in Georgetown, Washington DC. Chapter members and guests were treated to the chapter’s 2022 musical and fine arts winners. The Winston Classical Voice winner and the National Piano Competition contestant regaled the audience while the wonderful art of Winston Fine Arts winners scrolled throughout for all to enjoy.

NSAL Meeting and 75th Anniversary Celebration hosted by NSAL-DC
The National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) held its National Meeting and Drama Competition 29 May through 2 June, 2019 at the Georgetown Marriott Hotel. What was extra special about this Conference was that NSAL celebrated its 75th anniversary in Washington, DC where NSAL began!
2018 NSAL Viennese Ball
The 2018 NSAL Viennese Ball, our 10th annual, was held November 10, 2018, at our traditional location in downtown Washington, D.C. As usual, the evening featured an elegant dinner, waltzing to the music of con brio! Salon Ensemble, a Viennese dessert buffet and optional overnight accommodation at the venue.
